Email to Herne Bay Geography Teachers
Good afternoon,
I'm a geography A-Level student studying at Coulsdon College, and I am about to start my independent investigation. I'm basing my study in Herne Bay as not only is there a lot of coastal defences that I can look at, but I also visited the area for my GCSE fieldwork so I have a little background knowledge on the location.
My teacher suggested that I tried to get in contact with a geography teacher local to the area to see if I am able to get a little information before I come to Herne Bay over the summer. Would you be able to tell me about the success of the defences there? I know that there has been a lot of improvements going on in recent years, and I'm looking at the social impacts that the hard engineering schemes have on people living in or visiting the area. I'm looking at whether they've affected the tourism and fishing industries, had an impact on the look of the seafront and how they have impacted the standard of living, as well as what general perceptions that local people have of them. If you would be able give me a little information, or point me in the right direction, then I would be very grateful.

As part of my A-Level coursework I am required to develop my own independent research project.
For my independent study I am basing my investigation in Herne Bay due to the fact that not only is there a variety of coastal defences that I can look at, but because I also visited the area for my GCSE fieldwork and so have a little background knowledge on the location.
I appreciate this is an extremely busy time of year in school, but I was wondering if there would be any possibility that you could forward this e-mail on to your geography department so that I can get a head start on my assignment.
